Pavement Scooter Showdown – Mighty Mini vs Multi 4
Pavement scooters are one of the most popular and most seen scooters in the UK. This is thanks to their low price point, user friendly designs and availability.
In fact, most 4mph pavement scooters are available through the Motability scheme, further adding to their availability.
This has led to a boom in the 4mph scooter market, with many new models being introduced to capitalise on this newfound interest.
Monarch are no exception to this being one of the leading specialists in the UK, much of our brand is centred around affordable 4mph scooters.
Yet even in our range there is such a wide range of options, finding the right scooter for you can be difficult.
With that in mind we have decided to pit two of our most popular mobility scooters head to head, to see which one comes out on top.
Performance
Both the Mighty Mini and the Multi 4 have a maximum speed of 4mph. In addition, each scooter is also class 2 certified, permitting them to be used on pavements only.
This makes both scooters very well suited to trips to the shops and travelling around urban areas.
However, their powerplants and battery range the first differences between these two scooters start to emerge.
The Mighty Mini is powered by 200w motor with two 12ah lead acid batteries. This gives the Mini a maximum battery range of 8 miles depending on user.
The Multi 4 on the other hand is powered by a 400w motor and two 12ah lead acid batteries. Yet despite the more powerful motor, the Multi as a maximum battery range of up to 22 miles.
However, the Mighty Mini does make up for its lack of power with a much nimbler chassis, with a turning circle of 1070. This makes it better suited to shopping districts and busy urban areas compared with the Multi 4.
Yet for its incredible range, the performance round must go to the Multi 4.
Practicality
Practicality is where the Mighty Mini really comes into its own.
Each Mini features a simple break apart design, with the scooter able to be disassembled into 5 pieces. This allows the Mini to be placed within the boot of a car, a luxury normally only afforded to folding scooter users.
This makes it a great choice for day trips as the scooter takes only minuets to be assembled.
The Multi 4 offers a more traditional scooter design, which does not disassemble for car travel.
As such the Mighty Mini takes the practicality round.
Features
Both the Mighty Mini and Multi 4 are packed full of additional features. This makes them such popular choices for those looking for a 4mph scooter.
First let’s look at the Multi 4.
Each scooter comes with a fully upholstered seat complete with armrests. What’s more the seat is height adjustable, allowing users of all heights to ride in comfort.
What’s more each scooter features solid puncture proof tires, reducing worry and cost. This is complimented by a complete front and rear suspension setup, completely absorbing bumps along the pavement.
Next up the Mighty Mini.
As mentioned previously the Mini can be dismantled into 5 pieces making it easier for car transportation.
In addition to this each scooter features a stylish two-tone leather swivel seat, allowing the user to climb in and out of the scooter easier. Along with this each scooter comes with a handy front basket and cane holders for added convenience.
The Mini also features built in suspension, however this is only for the rear wheels only, to accommodate its easy disassembly.
Both scooters have excellent features for lightweight 4mph scooters, therefore this round is a tie.
Price
The final round, how much will these scooters cost.
One of the unique factors of these two scooters is that they are both available as part of the Motability scheme.
This scheme allows people to purchase mobility equipment on a lease basis, dividing the payments into monthly instalments.
For this reason, we will be comparing both the overall price, and the price of the Motability lease.
The Multi 4 model is available from £1770. This price reflects its enhanced performance and ride quality compared with other pavement scooters on the market.
As a part of the Motability scheme you can lease out the Multi 4 for only £17.58 per week. Each Multi also comes with 1 year’s warranty and servicing.
The Mighty Mini on the other hand is available from £1095, making it one of the best value 4mph pavement scooters on the market.
This is reflected in its Motability lease as the Mighty Mini can be leased for only 14.11 per week. As before this scooter also comes with 1 year’s warranty and servicing when bought from Monarch.
As such the Mighty Mini wins out in the price round.
